Chapter 9

Slowly making their way down the hall to Sarah's room, they took their time stopping frequently to kiss. When Sarah's back hit the door to her room she reached for the handle, not once peeling her lips away from David's she turned it and pushed the door open.

Directing Sarah into her room David shut the door behind him. Breaking off their kiss Sarah moved her lips to his neck kissing his damp skin as she fumbled with the buttons of his rain drenched shirt.

Tilting his head back he relished in the feel of her lips on his skin as she unbuttoned and pushed his shirt off his shoulders and kissed a path down his chest, while he shrugged out of his shirt and let it drop to the floor.

Bringing her lips back up to his, she kissed him as he reached for the bottom of her jumper. He paused gripping the material so tightly his knuckles turned white. He needed to make sure this was what she wanted. When Sarah noticed his hesitation she placed her hands over his helping him pull the jumper over her head.

When it landed beside them on the floor David wasn’t only speechless but also breathless, as he stared at the beautiful sight in front of him. Her bare bronzed flesh waiting to be touched. Sure he’d seen this much of her before but this was different, everything was different. Her breasts where so beautiful he felt mesmerized, and for a second he couldn't for the life of him understand why or how she could love him. She was the most amazing thing on this earth, she could have anything or anyone, yet she wanted him. Nothing could make him happier.

Without even realizing it he had reached out and brushed the palm of his hand across her cheek, then slowly moved it down her neck and gently traced it down between her breasts, until he came to just under her navel, where her low rise jeans clung to her hips.

Sarah had blushed slightly at his perusal, but then closed her eyes as his hand moved across her skin. God his touch made her feel so good.

Moving his hand off her stomach he grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him, kissing her lips as he felt her taut nipples brush against his chest.

Slowly they removed each others pants, when David reached down and removed her panties, he froze staring at her completely naked before him. She was a goddess without a doubt.

"God you're beautiful." he said staring at her with lustful eyes.

"David." she whispered stepping in closer to him and placing her palms flat against his stomach, as she came to her toes to kiss him. Her hands moved a bit lower to the top of his boxers. Feeling her hands slowly sliding his last garment of clothing down he swallowed audibly. He was so ready to make love to her, but then again he always was.

Staring at his naked form she smiled before he crushed his lips against that smile. He then picked her up in his arms and laid her down on the bed.

Lying atop of her he braced himself on his elbows. She brought her arms up around his neck and pulled him closer for a kiss, he felt so good lying on top of her naked, she knew that there were a lot of things going against them but one thing she was sure of was that this was right, this was meant to be.

Spreading his kisses along her throat and down to her breasts he stopped to give them more attention laving and closing his mouth over them, he couldn't get enough of her she was so beautiful, he wanted to pinch himself to make sure this wasn’t another one of his fantasies. He was finally about to make love to the only woman who ever made him feel whole, and even the feeling of anticipation was so intense he'd never felt anything like it before.

Gripping the bed sheets, and arching her neck as he lavished her breasts Sarah felt her orgasm brewing, the slightest touch from him sent her senses tumbling into bliss. She parted her legs waiting in anticipation for what was to come, when she felt his fingers stroking her she gasped.

He kissed the soft skin of her neck as he brought her to the brink, rubbing her sensitive spot as she let out a breathy moan as her climax shook her. Bringing his lips back to hers he kissed her softly then as if suddenly realizing he stopped, pulling away.

"David? What’s wrong, why did you stop?" asked a breathless Sarah.

"Uh I don't have any protection." he said mentally cursing himself, well its not as if he truly thought he would ever get the chance to make love to her, he still couldn't believe he was here next to her naked.

"Well I am on the pill." she said smiling at him.

That wasn't what David meant, but he realized that she knew what he meant and wasn't worried, knowing that he was healthy. He braced himself on his elbows as he lay back down atop of her, then slowly he slid inside her. He groaned at the feel of her around him then withdrew only to thrust back in. He started off slow and hard only to speed up as their climaxes were nearing. When Sarah’s was about to hit he found her clitoris and teased it, listening to her moan in satisfaction, when she finally reached it her breath caught in her throat and each shudder sent waves of pleasure through her body. David joined her as he reached his own climax and fell beside her taking her with him; she lay there sprawled across his chest, still feeling the last shimmers of that ecstasy flowing through her.

Holding her tightly against him they fell asleep never having felt more sated in their lives.

**********

After David arrived at Sarah's at four o’clock that afternoon, his wet clothes lay in a heap on the floor by her bed beside hers. He held her tightly as the storm had set into full force outside. She was asleep her face snuggled against his chest, and he just lay there with his arm around her, as if he thought that if he let her go he would lose her.

He watched her as she smiled in her sleep, then thoughts of them making love less than a couple of hours ago drifted through his mind. How was it that it was even more intense being with her so intimately than he had ever imagined. His fantasies had a lot to answer for, they did not in any way at all measure up to how pleasurable it really was.

The funny thing was that not once while he lay there holding her in his arms, did his thoughts drift to anything other than the beautiful blonde he had just made love to. He finally understood what that meant 'made love' it had only ever happened once and if he had anything to do with it; it would happen for the rest of his life. There was no way he could live without her now, she was so much a part of him and he'd only noticed just how much in the last few days.

There were other things to think of though but he wouldn’t let himself, not tonight, this was his and Sarah's night nothing and no one was going to spoil it. She started to stir and a smile crossed his face as he noticed her about to wake up.

Burying her head deeper in his chest she sighed.

"Hey." he said as he stroked her hair and placed a kiss atop of her head.

"Hey." she said bringing her head up to rest on the pillow beside his, he turned on his side to face her properly and returned his fingers to her hair.

The lay there for a while just staring and smiling at each other, Sarah still couldn't get over the fact that he was really there lying naked next to her, she wanted this to last forever this feeling inside her. It was as if everything was right now, and as though life could actually be perfect.

"Does this feel weird to you?" she asked

"No this actually feels right." he said as he leaned in to kiss her.

"Good." she said as they pulled away

"How about you?" he asked

"Everything feels right." she smiled.

Still stroking her hair he admired her beauty as he looked her over, the cream sheets not covering her bronzed legs or shoulders. Her hair and those beautiful green eyes, the ones he wanted to be looking into forever.

How he could have thought for one second that he could walk away from her, that he could be without her, he couldn't understand. Thank God he'd come to realize before it was too late, if he had of blown his chance he would had regretted it for always.

Just then a bolt of lighting flashed outside and thunder shook the ground. Sarah jumped latching her arm around David's chest as she buried her head in it, he smiled.

"Hey, are you scared?" he asked as he ran his fingers across her arm and with his other hand continued stroking her hair.

"No, just caught me of guard." she said looking up at him and digging her chin into the chiseled muscles of his chest. "Besides even if I was scared, I've got you here to protect me right?" she said with a smile on her face.

"You better believe it." he said as he brought her face up to his for a kiss.

"Have I told you recently that I love you?" he asked as he caressed her jaw with his long fingers.

"Yeah, but I never grow tired of hearing it." she said kissing him again.

"Well if you like I could show you instead." he said quirking an eyebrow.

"What did you have in mind?" she asked with a playful tone to her voice.

He showed her just what that was.

**********

When Ingrid got home she waited patiently for David to arrive, hours went by and he hadn't shown up. She thought he was just doing this to get back at her for her reaction at the doctors earlier that day. She knew he had wanted children and when they first married she thought that maybe she had wanted them too. But the truth was she never did and David couldn't force her to do something she didn't want to do.

He was probably out at some bar drowning his sorrows, or out with some friends having fun. The thought never crossed her mind that he was actually with Sarah. She decided not to sit around waiting for him, she wasn't sure that he would even want to talk to her. Maybe if she gave him some space, and went to see her family for awhile. Deciding that that was the best for the both of them she wrote him a note telling him of her plans.

**********

Later that night as the rain continued to beat down outside, the two new found lovers still hadn't left the comfort of the warm bed. Sarah lay in his arms with a smile she couldn't wipe off her face, David was much the same. There was no talk of his wife or what happened next between them, they just enjoyed the comfort they found in each others arms.

Chapter 10

The next day was spent much the same as the previous night, David had managed to wash his clothes and throw them in the drier yet he never seemed to get around to wearing them.

While Sarah was in the shower he thought that maybe he should call his wife, sure he was still mad at her but what he had done since their disagreement yesterday was a lot worse. He had gone back on his vows; he cheated on someone that he swore he would love forever. And now he had to face the consequences.

Hitting the speed dial on his cell, he called home only to be greeted by a different message then the one he recognized. The machine or rather his wife’s voice told him that she was out of town for a while. What was going on? Why had his wife suddenly left? Did she know where he was, and was that why she was gone? A million questions started running through his mind, and he couldn't find an answer for not one of them.

He started feeling guilty for what he had done, and thought that maybe he should go home and put some distance between he and Sarah. It's not like he wanted his marriage to work out anymore, he was in love with Sarah, end of story.

Then why was it that he felt so damn bad about things. He headed for the drier and decided to grab his clothes and leave, he needed to find Ingrid and explain what had happened with him and Sarah. And tell her he was leaving her. When he was about to get dressed he heard Sarah call out to him form the shower, he dropped his clothes in a second and made his way to the bathroom.

When he opened the bathroom door, he could see Sarah holding her hand out asking him for a towel, he grabbed a towel and opened the door and was about to hand it to her until he saw her standing there naked. Suddenly he lost his train of thought and instead of giving her the towel he removed his robe and stepped inside the shower.

**********

Later that night after they had had something to eat, David put the fire place to use and brought out a few pillows and sheets from Sarah's room. Laying them down in front of the fire he removed his robe, the one he had been wearing as his clothes washed and dried. Slipping under the sheets he invited Sarah who was still in the kitchen to join him.

Removing her robe she slipped under the sheets to join him, within an instant he covered her body with his own, kissing her lips and making love to her as the light form the fire danced across their skin.

**********

Later that night both had woken up to find comfort in each others arms, everything seemed perfect, yes the storm was still in full force outside, and they couldn't see it clearing for the weekend. But they saw it as maybe the Gods were shinning down on them in a weird sort of way, giving them a weekend where it was impossible to do anything other than stay inside. So they lay there for a while the fire still crackling away, then they finally tackled the dreaded subject.

"David" she said as she sat up leaning against the lounge and bringing the sheets with her.

"Yeah" he said sitting up next to her and putting his arm around her shoulders to pull her closer.

She wanted to ask him where things went from here, what was going to happen between the two of them. She wondered did they really have a chance to make it work and be together. Was he really going to leave his wife for her?

With all these thoughts running through her mind she wasn't sure whether she wanted to ask him anymore, what if he said no, that he made a commitment to his wife and he couldn’t go back on it. That would mean that he had only used her, or worse that he would want to just continue seeing her behind his wife’s back.

And if that wasn’t true, then what if he did say yes, that he would leave his wife for her, then what? She would be the one responsible for the break up of his marriage, and how would it look for her to suddenly be dating him the second he leaves Ingrid. It wouldn't do neither Sarah or David any good at all.

If that was how she felt then why on earth did she invite him into her room last night, why had she made love to him over and over only for it to come to this feeling of guilt. She tried to tell herself that she had done nothing wrong, that it was David who had cheated on his wife; she wasn't the one who was married. But she knew better, she had done something terribly wrong, she was the other woman, and as wrong as she knew that was, why was it that it felt like it was the first right thing she had done in her life.

Now she had his attention and she couldn't think of what to say, she wanted to tell him that this couldn't go on, that she couldn't play second best, that she loved him too much for that, but the words wouldn’t come. As much as she hated the idea of being that so called other woman, she really did prefer it over not being with him at all.

"Sarah are you okay." he asked as he ran his fingers through her hair.

"I don't know." she whispered.

"What's wrong, did I do something?"

"No, I mean not you alone."

He knew what she meant, she was thinking about everything that had happened between them, and the consequences that came with their actions. He had been postponing this moment for so long, just enjoying being with her and not at all wanting to have this talk, but the time had come and he couldn't ignore it any longer, it was time they sorted everything out and see what the next step was going to be.

"You're thinking about everything that has happened over the last week aren't you?" he said trying to make her meet his gaze.

"Yeah." she said still unable to look him in the eyes.

"And?"

"And what?" she said turning her head to look up at him.

"Well what exactly is on your mind?"

"Everything. Me, you, us. I just don't know what happens next, I mean I know how I feel about it all, I think I do anyway, but I don't know about you."

"What? Sarah how many times do I have to tell you that I love you before you actually start believing me?" he snapped.

"I... I... " she choked on her tears as she pushed them back, she couldn't believe he snapped at her the way he just did.

"You what?" he said feeling frustrated, that he had to keep repeating himself over and over just to get through to her.

Sarah couldn't speak; she was too busy trying not to cry. He didn’t understand what she was trying to say, he had taken it the wrong way and now he wasn’t even giving her the chance to regain herself and speak.

"In case you hadn't noticed, I am cheating on my wife being here with you, I would think that that was proof enough." he spat as he pulled his arm away from her.

Sarah was so upset and angry she got up quickly and put on her robe, heading towards her room she stopped half way and turned to face him. "David just so you know, I wasn't asking you to reassure me about the way you feel about me, what I was wanting to know was what are we going to do know because of the fact that you’re married." she spat

David looked up at her feeling guilty about what he had just said; he should have just listened instead of opening his mouth and yelling at her.

"Oh and yes I do realize that you’re cheating on your wife being here with me, in fact it’s kind of hard to forget. But as to whether that is proof of your feelings, well honestly no its not, and like I said I didn't want proof. When you said you were in love with me that was enough, and now honestly yeah I am finding it all a little hard to believe." she said before storming off to her room.

"Shit." he spat as he heard her bedroom door slam. 'Way to screw things up David.' he said to himself, before getting up off the floor, throwing on his robe and heading towards her room.

Sarah fell on her bed in tears, everything was going so well, and now it was all a mess. Why did she have to open her mouth in the first place? Why did he have to be so mean about it? It was all just getting to hard, she couldn't keep doing this to herself, maybe they shouldn't have made love, it just complicated everything.

Before they had opened up about their feelings for each other, they had never had even one fight, and now they had just yelled at each other and it had left her in tears.

Wiping at her eyes she heard David turning the handle on the door only to find it locked. She just stared at it before she heard a soft knock at the door. "Sarah, please can I come in? I'm sorry." he whispered

She didn't answer, she couldn't do anything but cry, why did she have to love him so much.

"Sarah baby, please." he begged, he knew he had screwed up, it wasn't her fault he was married, and that she had fallen for him. He was the one that gave into what his heart wanted, and really was that so wrong?

Slowly the door opened and he seen Sarah standing there with tears in her eyes, before she walked back to her bed and lay on it facing away from him.

He walked over to where she was and lay down beside her. Pulling her closer to him he held her. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to be so hurtful, it's not your fault."

She didn't say or do anything but lay there in his arms trying not to cry. Why did love have to be so hard?

Chapter 11

“Sarah I'm sorry baby, my mouth it needs to be glued shut... sometimes I just say things that I don't mean.” he whispered in her ear as he held her tightly against him.

Turning around to face him as tears streamed down her face, she wiped at them and shook her head. “It's okay, I just seem to crying all the time lately.” she said trying to smile.

A frown crossed his face, that wasn’t something he wanted to hear “I'm sorry that I make you cry.” he said dropping his head to look away from her.

Placing the palm of her hand against his jaw she made him look up at her “You don't, I just love you and everything’s so hard... and it should be easy.”

“I know.” he whispered

“So where do we go from here?” she asked

“I'm not sure exactly, there is only one thing I am sure of and that's that I love you. You’re the one I want to be with.”

“Really?” she asked smiling as tears slipped free falling down her cheeks.

“Really.” he smiled back at her.

He was about to tell her that he was going to talk to his wife as soon as she got back home, but he was stopped by her lips kissing him passionately.

**********

~ 3 months later ~

It had been almost two months since she had seen him, and just as long since she had heard his voice. The Monday after their weekend together 3 months ago now David and Sarah had decided that they would stay away from each other until he spoke to his wife. They didn't keep their promise at first, always finding ways be together, but eventually hiding from the press had gotten to be to difficult, so they decided that they wouldn't spend any more time together until he sorted things out with Ingrid.

The only problem was that Ingrid still hadn't returned home, and David never got to talk to her other than over the phone. And as much as he wanted to be with Sarah he couldn't end his marriage with a phone call. He had contemplated going to see his wife as she was staying with her family, but thought that it was once again a better idea to wait until she returned home.

He never thought it would take her so long, he hoped that in that time nothing had changed Sarah's mind, and that she still wanted to be with him. He kept his ears and eyes open for her, and knew about all the things she got up to over the summer. He wanted to call her after her time in the Dominican Republic but didn’t, he wanted to call her every time he seen an article about her but didn’t. There were so many little things like that, that made him want to pick up the phone but he held back. But even more so than just calling her, he wanted to see her but once again he couldn’t, because he had given her his word. He had promised to show up on her door step the day they didn't have to hide anymore, and that's how it was going to be.

**********

Her First day back at work was rough, how on earth was she going to do this without him, she just couldn't get her body to do as she wished. It showed to, just how much she missed him, but it couldn't be helped.

On his first day on set of his new show, he knew something was missing, and it was just too weird not having her around. He realized that he had taken the last three years for granted. He did enjoy himself on the new set, it just would have been better with Sarah there. Or if he could at least call her.

**********

It had been weeks since she had started filming the new season of Buffy and still no word from David. She felt as though maybe he was never going to call, maybe he just wanted a fling with her and now that he didn't have to deal with her everyday since they no longer worked together, he didn't care anymore.

She grew angrier and angrier with each passing day. There was no way that his wife had still not returned from seeing her family, no he had changed his mind and was avoiding her. She knew what she had to do, she had to forget him and move on with her life, her life without him, the way it used to be. After she had gotten a taste of what they could have had, she had to forget it and let go. Maybe even start seeing other people.

**********

Finally Ingrid returned home and David found himself not looking forward to this talk at all. He didn't want to break her heart, but he didn't want to break Sarah's either. In the end it came down to a choice and he had made his, now all he had to do was tell his wife.

When she walked into their home she threw her arms around him, pressing her lips against his. David was caught off guard by her spontaneity as it was unlike Ingrid, bringing his hands to her shoulders he pulled her away from his lips.

“We need to talk.” he said as he put some distance between them.

“I know.” she replied with a smile on her face. “I just missed you, while I was gone.”

David paused, what was going on? Ingrid was never about declarations and affection. He couldn't help but smile. “You did?” he asked

“Of course I did.” she said surprised by his question. “Didn't you miss me?” she asked

David wasn't sure how to answer that, the last summer he spent so much of it missing Sarah and thinking of her non stop that the only time he thought of his wife was when he wished her back so he could have this "talk" with her. But he knew he needed to give her an answer. “Yeah.” he simply said

“How much?” she pressed her body against him and snaked her arms around his neck.

“Uhhh... We really need to have this talk.” he said as he pried her hands apart and slipped out of her embrace once again.

“Okay.” she said disappointed that he wanted to talk rather than make love to her.

“I think you might want to sit for this.” he said as he leaned against the wall

“Sounds important.”

“It really is.”

“Okay so what is it?” She asked as she sat down on the lounge.

“It's us.” He whispered

“Okay... what about us?” she asked growing more nervous with each passing second.

Over the next four hours David explained the situation, telling his wife that he wanted a divorce as he didn't see them having much of a future both wanting different things out of life. When she suggested that maybe she could consider having his child he had to tell her that that wasn't the only reason, and that he had found someone else. Ingrid exploded when she heard that news, calling him every name under the sun for doing this to her. But when David offered to leave she turned on him.

“You think you can just lay all this on me and then just walk out?” she spat

“Well I can understand if you don't want to be around me.” he whispered.

“Were married David, and yeah your a bastard for cheating on me, and I can’t stand the sight of you at the moment, but we are married. And I plan on standing by our vows.” She said forcing her tears back.

“But...”

“What? You don’t want to stay married; I thought that you were against divorce.”

“I am.”

“Well I don’t see any other way around this, and I will not stay married to you while you screw around.”

“I'm not going to screw around.” What was he saying, that was just his way out, sure it would hurt her but it was his chance and he just turned it down. Why didn’t he tell her that he wanted to see this other woman? “So you want to make this work?”

“I think it’s only the right thing to do, don’t you?”

He just couldn’t understand why he couldn’t say no to her. “Right now Ingrid I don't know what I want... I don’t know what else to say.” he whispered, he did know what he wanted but it seemed that his wife wasn't about to let him out of his vows so easily. “Are you really sure that us staying married is a good idea?”

“I don't know, but I can't think of anything better. But if you want to be with that bitch than just go.” she spat.

“I... I don't, I just...” He took a deep breath “Like I said before I don’t know what I want.” He lied why couldn't he just tell her who it was he had been unfaithful with, and tell her that he was leaving her for that woman.

“Well you need to figure this out... and you can take the couch.” she said before walking into their room and slamming the door behind her.

“I want Sarah.” he whispered to himself, 'How hard was that to say, I could tell her I was unfaithful but I couldn't tell her I wanted to leave.' He thought. All he wanted was to be with Sarah without hurting his wife; he knew it was going to be hard but not impossible. Sometimes he never realized that he never seemed to put what he wanted first, which in the end would only ending hurting him more than anyone else.

Chapter 12

The whole time he was on the Buffy set she avoided him, she only thanked God that they didn't really have any scenes together as she couldn't see herself getting through them. The only problem now was that she had to go over to the Angel set and shoot a very intimate episode with him.

How was she going to get through this, how could she be around him when he had gone out of his way to ignore her? How could she kiss him without thinking back to the last time they kissed?

It was funny that months ago she loved the idea of having crossovers between the two shows, but now she wasn't looking forward to it at all. She re-read the script over and over, the kiss scene, the kitchen table scene, the bed scene. No this was wrong, there was no way she was going to be able to get through this, and not to mention the ice cream scene, this was going to be emotionally draining.

As much as he tried he just couldn't stop pacing backwards and forwards in his trailer, she was going to be there today, he was going to see her and talk to her and work with her today. He tried to talk to her when he was on the Buffy set but nothing happened she didn’t seem to want to be near him, he could tell she was avoiding him and he couldn't blame her.

He had become such a coward, first he told her he loved her and that he would do anything to be with her, yet he couldn't even leave his wife. He didn't know why he couldn't just walk away from her. In the last two weeks since she had returned they had barely spoken two words to each other, and he knew that no matter how many times Ingrid said she wanted it to work that it was just pointless, he was going to have to get it through to her what he wanted, and then he would get Sarah back, no matter what it was he would have to do, he'd do it.

He couldn't let the most amazing thing that had ever happened to him slip away that easily. Now all he had to do was get her to talk to him.

“Hey Sarah.” Charisma smiled walking over to her friend.

“Hey.” The blonde replied throwing her arms around her.

“Oh my god I've missed having other females on set.” Charisma giggled stepping away from the hug.

Sarah just laughed, but then suddenly stopped when she seen him, he hadn't noticed her yet as he had just walked on set. She looked away instantly not wanting to make eye contact when I wasn’t necessary. Why did he have to look incredibly sexy when she was so damn mad at him?

David looked around the set and spotted her almost immediately, she was so beautiful, he just couldn't help but stare. He wanted to go over and talk to her, but the producers seemed to have the idea in their heads that the actors were there to work, so he thought that maybe later when they needed to go through some lines, then maybe he would be able to talk to her.

**********

He could tell she was mad, she barely even looked in his direction, and when it came time to rehearse their scene she walked away from him. He caught up to her, and grabbing her by the arm he pulled them away from everyone else so they could be alone.

“Do you mind?” she snapped shaking her arm free.

“Uh... sorry.” he whispered letting go of her. He was expecting her to be upset, but not so harsh.

“Yeah I bet you are.” she said before walking off.

“Sarah wait, I uh... I wanted to talk to you.” He said chasing after her. She stopped, but didn’t turn around, she couldn't believe that things had actually come to this, her whole summer was spent missing him and thinking about him, and now things had turned out so differently from how she imagined them to be.

“I have nothing to say to you.” she insisted and kept on walking.

“Sassy please.”

She froze and turned around, facing him this time “Don't call me that.”

“What? why?” he asked, and he noticed her gaze it was so icy cold he was afraid to say another word, how could they be the same eyes that shed tears for him and looked up at him so lovingly only months ago. The ones that sparkled each time he made her smile, it felt like he was staring at a completely different woman, and he sadly realized that he had done this to her, he had taken the sparkle out of her green pools.

“Because only my friends call me that.” she bit out, before once again walking away from him. That hurt him more than anything, they had always been friends, and now they didn't even have that anymore.

He was going to let her go, she was mad at him, and he couldn't blame her but he couldn't leave it at that, no he needed to straighten this out. He followed her into her trailer, not letting her slam the door in his face when she tried. “David can you just go away?” She asked growing annoyed with him

“No I can't.” he said matter of factly.

“Fine I'll go then.” she said stepping around him to the door

“No that's not going to happen.” he said blocking the only exit and not letting her leave.

“You can't make me stay here and listen to what ever lies you want to tell me.” She said as she crossed her arms across her chest.

“I know Sas- Sarah, but I can try... and I'm not going to lie to you.”

She sighed “Fine say what your here to say and then leave.”

He hated that she was so mad at him, but he was the only one to blame for that. Maybe staying away from her for the last few months was a mistake after all. But the biggest mistake he had made was not telling his wife that it was over and there was no chance at reconciliation, but no he had to stay when she said she wanted to work on it. He still couldn't believe she wanted that after he admitted to cheating on her.

“I missed you.” he whispered softly.

And there was the first crack of the ice that had set up shop around her heart. Sarah felt like she had waited forever to hear those words, she really loved him and would have done just about anything to be with him, but now sadly things weren’t the same and he couldn’t just win her over with those three words.

“David don't okay... I can't hear this.” she whispered on the verge of tears. “What happened between us was a mistake, granted it was the best mistake of my life, it can't happen again.”

What she just said gave him hope, she said it was the best mistake of her life, maybe she still loved him, maybe things really were fixable. “It wasn't a mistake Sarah, it was the first thing that I've done that wasn't a mistake, I love you and I want to be with you.”

“Have you told that to your wife?” She asked pushing back her unshed tears, she couldn't let him see her cry, that would be showing weakness, and right now she needed to be strong.

“I told her there was someone else.” He said smiling thinking of who that someone else was, it was the beautiful woman that was standing directly in front of him, the one he had spent every night out of the last few months lost in dreams about.

“That's not what I asked you.” She whispered

“I couldn't Sarah... I don't know why but I just couldn't." He said feeling ashamed and guilty.

“I understand.”

His head shot up “You do?”

“Yeah... and I wish you guys the best, I hope your marriage works out for you.” She said stepping around him, wanting to leave the trailer. She hated that she was so mean to him but she couldn't behave towards him in any other manner. She was still just so hurt, and looking at him right now, knowing that she couldn't have him and that he belonged to Ingrid was just too heartbreaking.

“I don't want it to work out, I want you.” He mumbled as he turned to face her. Sarah who had reached for the handle to open the door paused, and then turned back around to face him.

“How can you say that?” She asked stepping in closer to him.

“It's the truth.” He defended honestly.

“Oh so you just want me to be your girl… on the side?” This is how she had to be, she couldn't give in she had to tell him just how he made her feel, and that he should never have insisted he would leave Ingrid for her when it was so far from the truth.

“No I want you, only you, end of story.” He insisted, reaching out and gently brushing her cheek with the palm of his hand.

“Well you know what David, come and see me when you haven't got a wife and maybe I'll be sitting around waiting for you.” To say she was being sarcastic was an understatement, but David knew he deserved it. But he also knew he wasn't going to leave things at that, he wouldn't give up on her that easily, no matter what Sarah was going to be his.

Now he had a few issues at home he needed to sort out, and this time no one was going to change his mind, he was going to say what he wanted and leave. So he was going to hurt his wife, it wasn't as though lying to her like he had been wasn't hurting her more. So that was that, he was going to leave her and get Sarah back, nothing was going to stop him this time.

Chapter 13

"You bastard!" Ingrid spat throwing the closest thing to her at her husband, which just happened to be the phone, luckily it missed and instead shattered to pieces once it hit the wall.

David had come home from work that night and told her the truth, not leaving out a single detail. The fact that there was someone else was something his wife had already known, but tonight she had found it who it was.

Sarah, the woman she hated from the day she met her, her striking beauty something that intimidated Ingrid, setting her on edge each time she thought of her husband at work with the petite blonde. All along she had been right not to trust her, because now, she was the reason her husband of two years was leaving her.

She thought she could make it work, and that to do that all she had to do was get past his infidelity. But to hear that he didn't want to stay married, and that he wanted to leave her so he could be with the woman he loved, it was too much for Ingrid. And now she was lashing out.

"I loved you and this is what I get in return, you sleeping with that whore." She was so damn angry that she had lost him, especially to her.

"She's not a whore." he spat back, he knew what he had done was wrong, but she had no right to call the woman he was in love with a whore, even if that woman was partially to blame in his wife’s eyes.

"What?"

"She's not a whore." He whispered

"How dare you." she hissed, how could he say that? This was all Sarah's fault, his so called co worker had gone out of her way to entice David and now she was stealing him away from her completely

“You screwed around with her, behind my back and now what? You want me to tell you how happy I am for you?” She said as her tears surged forward “I loved you, I married you and swore to stand by you forever and this is what you do to repay me? I hate, no I really hate you, and I just wish you were dead.” She said as she completely lost it and couldn’t do anything but cry, falling to the floor.

“I’m sorry.” He whispered.

“I don’t care.” She said looking up to him “Just leave.”

David just stood there, unsure of what to do or say, he couldn’t leave her not like this. He wasn’t going to go back on his word, he was still going to give up his marriage to be with Sarah, and nothing would change that. But even though he and Ingrid didn’t have the best marriage ever he still cared about her.

He took the few steps over to her and sunk down to his knees on the floor next to her, placing his hand on her back.

“Ingrid I’m...”

“Get the hell away from me.” She said through clenched teeth.

He didn’t move, just stayed by her side not taking his eyes off her.

“Go.” She yelled.

David stood back up, and walked to the door, when he pulled it open he turned back to look at her. “I really am sorry Ingrid.” He said before walking out the door and closing it behind him.

Ingrid stared at the door for a second before screaming at the top of her lungs “GO TO HELL.”

She didn’t understand how it had all happened, one minute they were happy and in love, then he got the role of Angel, and everything went to hell. She should of put a stop to it a long time ago, she should have made him quit before Sarah got her claws into him.

She was one hundred percent sure that it was everyone else’s fault but her own, she never thought that maybe if she had of given him kids then she could have kept him. Because reality was that David was in love with someone else, and nothing or no one could change that.

**********

He arrived on set early that day after spending the night in a hotel thinking of what he had done. He was finally free, and he could be with the woman he truly wanted, the only issue was, did she still want him?

“David, she’s not here yet.” Glenn his co star said smiling at him, he could tell what was on his mind. David may have been able to fool everyone else, but Glenn wasn’t blind, he could see the way he looked at Sarah, even though he’d only witnessed it a day so far, it was enough to tell that he was in love.

David ignored him, pretending he hadn’t heard what his friend had said. He needed to see her, desperately, and sooner rather than later. He needed to tell her again just how much it was that he loved her. He needed to hold her in his arms again.

**********

He knew he had to be on set five minutes ago, but he had to talk to her first. He had searched just about everywhere he could think of, and she was nowhere to be found. Giving up he returned to his trailer to grab his script to read over it once more, just to make sure he had it down pact.

When he walked inside he didn’t expect the site the greeted him. “Sarah.” He said the moment he saw her standing there.

“Shut up.” She said rushing over to him, throwing her arms around his neck and locking her lips with his.

It was the last thing he expected, but that didn’t mean he didn’t react instantly, wrapping his arms around her he pulled her close crushing her petite form against his much larger one.

“I love you.”’ He whispered pulling away from her lips as he had to tell her.

“It’s not important.” She said wanting to kiss him again, she didn’t care anymore, married or not she couldn’t deny herself, she needed him, she had missed him and he was close, and for one day that was all that mattered.

“Yes it is.” He demanded “I left Ingrid; I told her I love you and I left.” He said smiling at her, it still hurt when he thought of what he had put his wife through, but when he thought that it meant he could be with Sarah, he couldn’t help but be happy about it.

“You what?” she asked pulling away from him, this was what she had been waiting so long to hear, and now she didn’t know how to take it, she was more than shocked, in fact she couldn’t even describe how she was feeling.

“I left her.” He repeated.

“Why?” she couldn’t believe she had just said it, she wanted David as her own and now she was asking why, that didn’t even make sense.

“Because I need you Sassy, I love you so much.”

She wanted to dance, to sing, to jump up and down in total joy like any other young woman in love would when the man of her dreams muttered those words to her. But for some unknown reason she couldn’t even smile. She had come in here to make love to him, she just needed to feel him once more before she let go, and now that there was a chance for them to be together, she was ready to walk away.

“You cant, we can’t... I was wrong to come here.” She said walking over to the door.

“No.” he said grabbing a hold of her arm and spinning her around “Don’t you dare leave.” He demanded, not meaning for it to come out a threat.

“But David, you just left your wife, we can’t just… I mean it would be wrong if w-“

“No it wouldn’t.” he said stepping in a little closer to her, and reaching out and brushing her cheek with his hand. “Were meant to be Sarah, that’s all that matters.”

Sarah smiled, he was right, that was all that mattered.

Reaching for his shirt she began to work on his buttons. It took David a second to react then the next thing he knew he was pulling at her clothing. Within a few short moments they stood before each other completely naked.

She giggled as he swept her off her feet and threw her on the bed, slowly and teasingly kissing his way down her body.

Sarah closed her eyes and smiled as he gently placed open mouthed kisses along the outer curves of her perky breasts. He smiled up at her for a brief moment before returning his attention to her breasts and mischievously running his tongue over the hardened bud.

She drew in a husky breath, everything he did to her; every time he touched her it drove her insane. The pair hadn’t made love since the last time they were together months ago, so they took their time wanting to savour the moment, wanting it to never come to an end.

When the knock sounded on his trailer door, he looked up at Sarah; she couldn’t believe it just when he was working his way down to the part of her body that desperately needed his attention. “Shhhhh.” He whispered, there was nothing that could stop him from his task, he wouldn’t let anything tear her body away form him right now.

Sarah nodded at his request and watched as David’s head dipped low, down between her thighs. Prying her legs further apart he gently ran his tongue over her sex.

“David.” Sarah moaned his name, she had forgotten that only moments ago she was told to be quiet and she hadn’t even been able to last a minute.

As David continued his ministrations the knock continued to sound on the door. That reminded Sarah that she had to be quiet.

“David, you there? They need you on set now.” One of the assistants called.

Sarah heard what the man had yelled, and usually she was never the type to be late, but right now she couldn’t give a damn.

They both remained silent, Sarah was about to go crazy, she needed to scream his name, she needed release, and the idiot outside stood there for at least ten minutes thinking that David was coming out.

Not long after she was sure he had left, Sarah hit her peak, calling out to her lover as his tongue swirled around her highly sensitive bud.

David smiled as he watched her entire body glow; he covered every inch of her soft skin with kisses while she got her bearings back.

He found his way to her lips and gently placed a soft kiss against them. “Were late.” She whispered, slowly regaining her breath.

“I don’t give a damn.” He said before seizing her lips again, this time with a kiss so much more urgent than the last.

She wrapped her legs tightly around his waist as his hard length slid inside her; she’d missed this, being one with the man she loved. Days ago Sarah had wondered how she was going to get through her time filming on the Angel set, and now she didn’t know how she was going to be able to leave.

David started to move within her, gently at first, he’d gone so long without her, and at one point he wasn’t sure if he’d ever have this again. From now on he would treasure every moment he got with her. She was the love of his life, and no one would ever keep them apart again.

Chapter 14

One moment the bright flame appeared as the room, silent, still, and in the next it flickered from side to side as though a gust of wind had just brushed past.

Her emerald eyes were hypnotized, and even though they couldn’t be torn from the flame that wasn’t what had captured her completely. For the past hour she laid in his arms, resting her blonde head against his firm chest, as David slept, lost in dreams of her.

All Sarah could think about was today, how could it be real? Everything that had transpired was like a dream. It was as though in the morning she would wake to find that the last twenty four hours hadn’t happened.

For Buffy and Angel that was the case, and it was heart breaking. Sarah hated that the characters, the one and only pairing she would ever pour so much over herself into were given such a sad ending. By the end of the day the actress was an emotional wreck, but one thing helped her through that, and replaced that frown with a smile.

The little slip up was sweet, when he uttered her name instead of her characters as they both cried through the last scene for the day. It was strange that such a simple word like her name told the blonde of how much she meant to him. David loved her, he left his wife for her, and even though she felt guilty, for the first time ever it didn’t matter. Love was all that was important.

“I love you.” She whispered as her finger lightly traced his smooth jaw line.

The pair had found themselves back at Sarah’s home four hours ago, and after having kissed her and seen her wearing barely anything at all, and of course after what had occurred between them in his trailer earlier that morning David had but one thing on his mind. That night that one thing was repeated over and over.

Now feeling the most sated he’d ever felt in his life, David slept, holding onto his love for dear life.

She smiled watching his chest rise and fall, watching the small smile play over his lips as she touched his warm skin. Leaning over him Sarah softly pressed a tender kiss against his lips, before returning her eyes to the flame.

There was no way on earth she could even think of sleeping, because if she woke to find all this a dream, it would be more than cruel, it would tear her apart.

If she just stayed awake and watched as the flame slowly melted the cream colored wax, it would make this moment last, this bliss she found in her lovers arms.

With each passing minute her weary eyes fought to stay open, but Sarah blinked the sleep that wished to proclaim her body away. Awake, she had to stay awake, If she didn’t David wouldn’t be there.

As insane as it was, she couldn’t help it, over the last few months the blonde had found that each time she’d walked away, each time she’d hung up the phone, each time she’d closed her eyes, her love had drifted a little further away. But there was one thing she never realized, that each time that happened, Sarah never left his heart. If it was possible he only loved her more.

After another thirty minutes she gave in, slowly reaching over him and drawing in a breath to blow the burning shimmer of light out.

Seconds later the room was pitch black, and her eyes slowly closed. Going off her other senses Sarah ran her fingers over his chest.

“Never leave me.” She whispered, not intending for it to come out the plea that it had.

David responded the moment it escaped her lips, tightening his hold on her, making her feel with his touch alone that she was all that mattered, that their love kept them alive.

**********

“Three days.” Sarah whined holding her cell close to her ear trying not to sound too disappointed about what David was telling her.

“I know.” He agreed, he hadn’t seen her since the previous morning; both so busy at work that time really seemed to be going against them.

“This is not good.” She grumbled, slouching herself down on the small sofa in her trailer. “That’s like seventy two hours.”

“I know baby, and I hate it too, but it’s the only time were both free, and I swear it’ll be worth waiting for.” David reassured, even though he wasn’t to sure that he’d be able to wait himself.

“Oh you better believe it will, because as soon as I see you I’m going to….” She went on to tell him of the erotic things she had in store for their next night together.

David listened to every word carefully, his mouth hung open wide and his imagination running wild with carnal images of her body, his body, together… and he had to stop thinking.

Originally just the thought of them two alone was enough to get him worked up, but now thanks to Sarah, he was way beyond that.

“You do realize I have to be on set in ten minutes, and then I have another three days to get through before I get to do any of that to you, or let you do it to me.” He said, trying to breathe, oxygen… oxygen would be good right now.

“Let me?” She questioned as a tiny smile crept across her lips “Like you’re gonna be able to stop me.” And then she hung up the phone, having a good idea of exactly how much she had just tortured him.

David pulled the phone away from his ear the moment he heard the dial tone. Smiling even though the next three days he would be frustrated beyond belief. He couldn’t help it though; love was like that, it always, she always, left him with a smile.

God he loved her, and finally after what seemed like an eternity of waiting, David had her back. The woman he wanted to spend forever with.

The only one that was he was meant to marry.

Marry, it was really that serious. There was no one in his whole life that he had ever loved like this; there was no one that he would do anything for.

No one but Sarah.

Chapter 15

“Sarah please, just calm down.” Aly pleaded, watching the blonde as she paced the length of her living room, trying to stop herself from crying.

A month had passed since the last time she'd seen David, a whole month since she'd even spoken to him. Sarah had left him message after message asking him to call her back, and still nothing, not a word as to why he suddenly didn't want to see or talk to her.

No Merry Christmas, no happy new year, no nothing, she felt worthless.

So now, sadly, she had come to the conclusion that all this time he had just been playing her, leaving her thinking that he would move heaven and earth to be with her, when really, it was all a lie.

Sarah had half a mind to drive over to his hotel and give it to him, starting off with calling him every name under the sun, but... she figured why waste her breath, when he wouldn't when it came to returning her calls. No instead she would give him the same thing he had given her over the past month... the cold shoulder.

Not wanting to talk it out, she made it clear to Aly that she was going out for a bite to eat, and that if the red head wanted to follow, than it had to be on the condition that the name David wasn't brought up.

Aly reluctantly agreed.

**********

Sarah walked out of the restaurant alone, she had arrived there, at one of L.A.'s finest about an hour prior with the red head, but after their quarrel, Aly got up and left, not having kept to their agreement.

The blonde sat there for a little while longer, finishing the bottle of expensive wine and picking at her salad, before she made the decision that this was not what she was going to keep on doing.

As of now she was going to get on with things, to not give a damn about what David was doing and why he was ignoring her, and she wasn't going to follow anyone's advice but her own. After all who else knew her like she knew herself?

Just as she was trying to let go, thoughts of David and their last night together popped into her head. The images ate away at her, burning hot flesh molding in a way her body could never mold to another. Lips placing fevered kisses all over each others skin. Eyes holding each others gaze as they lay facing one another, not wanting to give into sleep, not wanting to dream, as it would never measure to what they had when they were awake.

That was when she abruptly stood up, paid the check, and made her exit. As the cool night air greeted her she sighed, wishing that for once a man wouldn't do this to her, wouldn't make her feel, only to let her burn in the end.

But most of all she wished that this love, hadn't of been the ultimate love she knew it to be. Why of all people did it have to be David that brought her to her knees?

An unwanted tear found its escape, slipping past her long lashes and gliding down her smooth cheek. Quickly wiping it away, Sarah picked up her pace, walking until she came across a bar. Smiling she knew this was just what she needed, one night, having fun, with nothing at all to worry about, and most importantly... alcohol.

Within minutes upon her entry she had a drink in hand and was sitting comfortably by the bar, enjoying the not so loud music she would usually find in clubs she went to. Not that she went out much; in fact it was usually just the after parties that she did make an appearance for. Well that and all the times David would drag her out.

They always had so much fun, whether they drank or not, most of the night was usually spent talking, and laughing, she'd always go home and climb into bed with a smile on her lips. But that was before... before they took that frightening step into something that she knew or at least thought to be love. No she knew it was, just his smile would tell her so.

Sarah didn't regret it of course, in fact the blonde knew she never would, but then again, if her and David had never given into their desires, than she wouldn't be left feeling like this, all alone, and empty.

Dismissing the thoughts once again, Sarah quickly finished her drink, and moved onto the next. Tonight she was set on forgetting the man that had obviously forgotten her.

Just then she felt a hand come to rest on her right shoulder.

**********

“You should at least tell her.” Alexis said, watching David play the messages on his machine back for what he thought was at least the hundredth time.

“You don't understand, I can't even talk to her, I mean I want this divorce, but I don't want everyone blaming Sarah for it, and the only way to avoid that is if I don't see her for a while.” David said, hating the plan, but knowing it was the only way to keep the woman he loved out of the mess he had created. After all it had worked for the past month, even though with each message she left, it was so hard not to just call her back, but he resisted, for her sake.

“Yes but, if you go on and keep ignoring her, you know she may just take it the wrong way.” Alexis said, thinking it a good idea that David ring her before she got the hint he wasn't even trying to give.

“No… not my Sarah, she knows I love her, she understands.” David smiled; just the thought of her did that to him. Finally he knew what it felt like to truly be in love.

“David, Ring her, trust me just do it.” Alexis insisted.

“If I ring her, that's it, I'm done. I'll go over there; I won’t be able to stop myself. You don't get it man, that's what talking to her does to me, she… she's just, I don't know, she has this affect on me.” David said thinking back on their last phone conversation, the things she said, and the things she had done to him that night.

He remembered walking into her home and finding her there on the couch, in the sexiest lingerie he'd ever seen. The moment he saw her that night, he just froze; in fact he couldn't move a muscle. His reaction was one she savored, he could just tell by the sexy sly look on her face.

“Well if it means anything I think you're doing the wrong thing.” Alexis stated as he shrugged his shoulders and held the door open for David.

Snapping out of his thoughts, he walked towards the opened door. “Thanks, I know I can always count on you for that.” David laughed. “But seriously, she knows I love her, and that I just want this divorce out of the way.” He insisted, so sure of himself, not once realizing it was so far from the truth.

“How can she when you haven't told her?” His friend asked

“Because, she knows me, I would never walk away from her.” David said with a smile on his face as he closed the door to his hotel room behind him, and followed Alexis down the corridor and into the elevator.

**********

Sarah turned hoping to find David standing there so she could give him a piece of her mind, or kiss him, no a piece of her mind, he deserved it. But deep down she knew that it wasn't him, because his touch was so recognizable, she could always feel it, deep down, that stir of butterflies within her.

Looking up she came face to face with none other than “Freddie.” She stated a confused look on her face.

“Hey.” He smiled pulling up the stool beside hers, and asking the bar tender for a drink for both himself and Sarah.

“Hey.” she returned his smile, although she was still totally confused as to why he was in this bar and talking to her. Even though it really wasn't something that should have confused her. They were still friends; they just never really saw each other lately.

“So… what’s new with you?” He questioned, taking in the fact that she seemed to have gone through quite a few drinks already.

“Long story.” She said with a roll of her eyes, before reaching for her drink.

“I’ve got all night.” He whispered, giving her a small smile, one that she took as being nothing but friendly. If only she knew, that it was so much more, Freddie had always had a thing for her.

**********

“So none of this talk okay?” David said as he pushed the door to the bar open, “Cause you’ll just make me miss her more.” He laughed; he already missed her so much. The whole drive over it was all they spoke about, and slowly Alexis was getting through to him. But David couldn’t let that happen, he needed to get his divorce sorted.

“Okay, but I’ll just say it now… I told you so.” Alexis joked, not realizing that now might not have been the best time to say it, as there right in front of them sat Sarah and Freddie, smiling and laughing, barely inches from away from each other.

David just stared on, not knowing what to do; there was who he thought to be his girl, with someone else. Anger was but a fraction of what he felt.

Chapter 16

It took David a few seconds to actually process what it was he was witnessing. How could it be real, how could she be sitting there, flirting with another man right in front of his face?

Was what they had so meaningless that she would seek out another the moment David turned his back? Shaking his head, trying to dispel the thoughts he knew that this was his own fault, he had done this, driven her away and into the arms of... Freddie?

No really? Was that who it was?

Never would he have imagined that she would seek out anything other than a friendship with the teen heartthrob. In fact when he'd asked her about how filming had gone on ‘I know what you did last summer’ and of how she had gotten on with her co-stars, Sarah had simply stated that she was glad to have made a new friend in Freddie. At the time it had bugged David, he was her friend, she didn’t need Freddie.

He understood now that it was just his real feelings floating to the surface, but it was something that couldn't be helped. He loved her, so much, more than he had and for that matter would ever love anything in his life, and now because he didn't want her getting mixed up in his divorce, he had most likely lost her.

So David wasn't going to do anything, he wanted to turn around and walk out that door, but when he noticed Freddie's hand come to rest on his loves knee, a rage he'd never felt before found its way inside his normally calm body. Stepping away from his friend, he marched over towards the pair.

Freddie looked up, noticing him approaching, and gave him a slight nod, more out of recognition for Sarah's sake. Turning his attention back to Sarah, about to tell her that her friend was heading over to say hello, Freddie, never saw it coming.

David had cleared the distance between himself and the other man within a second. The smug look on Freddie’s face when he had acknowledged him, pissed David off almost as much as when he'd noticed his hand on her knee.

Swinging at him, David's fist connected with Freddie's jaw, and he fell back off his stool and onto the floor.

“What the hell?” Sarah said, jumping to her feet once she noticed him, that same him that had been ignoring her for well over a month now, standing there.

“You stay away from her.” David spat, towering over Freddie, as he slowly rose to his feet again, moving his jaw from side to side in the process, as though he were trying to put it back in its rightful place.

“What like you have?” Sarah spat at him, all the blonde could think was how dare he waltz on in there and hit her friend in the face for no reason at all.

“Sarah, it's not like that, I-” David tried to plead his case.

“No, I don't want to know, you have had a month to tell me, you chose not to, and now it's too late.” She insisted, heading over towards Freddie to make sure he was alright.

“Too late for what?” David panicked, she couldn't be saying that that was it, that they were over, no he wouldn't accept that, he loved her, and he had to make her see that.

“Share a cab?” She offered Freddie, ignoring David's question and leading her friend out the bar.

“Sarah wait.” He called after her, watching her as she walked out, just wanting a chance to explain his actions.

Turning to face him she hissed “Stay away from me.” and with that the small blonde walked out, leaving David behind, the only thing she could do that would result in her not getting hurt again.

**********

At first David wanted to chase her out the bar and stop her, and maybe somehow make her see that he wasn't ignoring her. In fact everyday he’d wanted to call, the only thing stopping him was someone overhearing him and tying Sarah and his divorce together.

Now everyone would know, by tomorrow morning he was sure it would be all over the tabloids. He wanted to say he cared, but right then the only thing he seemed to give a damn about was the girl that had just walked away.

Alexis was right, and he should have listened, anything other than living his life without her there, by his side. The only place David ever wanted her to be.

When he got home that night, he had every intention on crawling into bed and trying not to think of the stupid mistakes he'd made. But instead he walked back outside, got in his car and drove over to see her. There was no way he could just leave things like that.

**********

For half an hour Sarah ignored him pounding against her front door, begging her to open it, and then going on to say that Freddie was dead on the occasion that he was in there. She was going to keep ignoring him, but as hard as she tried, she just couldn't. But the blonde also knew that she couldn't just take him back either.

What he had done was treat her like she was nothing but a mistress, only to be called upon for sex, and to be made to think that he really loved her, what a lie that had turned out to be.

Pulling the door open Sarah spotted him standing there, the most desperate look in his eyes, she'd never seen anything quite like it in her life. Diverting her gaze she just couldn't bear seeing him like that. ‘It’s just a game’ she kept telling herself, as though that look was there in his eyes under false pretenses. He didn't want her; he just wanted someone to keep his bed warm.

Why was it that the one man she never would have thought could be like that, had turned out to be just that? And more importantly why did he have to be the one man that Sarah thought she couldn't live without?

“What do you want?” She snapped, blocking the entry, not wanting him inside her home.

“To talk.” He whispered, tilting his own head, trying to meet her gaze.

“There's nothing to say.” Sarah stated as she stepped back and pushed on the wooden door to close it.

Reaching out with his hand David stopped her from closing the door, and stepped inside. “Where is he Sarah?” He demanded, walking in and straight past her as he began to search her home. The fact that she was rejecting him so easily only lead him to the conclusion that she was hiding something, or more importantly someone, like Freddie.

The blonde couldn't believe her ears, how dare he? Did he really think that she would just jump into bed with the next person that came along; did he know her at all? Apparently not, he knew how to say all the right things, like I love you, you're beautiful, and he knew exactly what her body responded to, where to touch and kiss. But that was it; he knew nothing about her morels, beliefs, or personality for that matter.

In the few months that they had been together, everything that he had originally known about her while they were just friends, had been lost, and replacing it was just a relationship based on nothing but lust.

Not anymore, Sarah just knew that she couldn't go on hurting herself, even if she did love him, it wasn't worth it when he obviously didn't feel the same.

“Get out!” She spat, watching him as he opened every single door in her home searching for someone that wasn't there.

“No.” He spat back, turning to face the blonde as he closed to bathroom door, finding it empty as he had the rest of the house. “I'm not going anywhere” He demanded, already feeling a little guilty for searching her home the way he just had.

“Then I'll go.” Sarah simply stated, there was no way that she could stand being anywhere near him in that moment.

“No Sarah, please.” He begged as he cleared the distance between them, reaching out and grabbing a hold of her shoulders, he tried to pull her in for a hug, wanting nothing more than to crush her against him, to reassure her of his love until she knew not to doubt it ever again.

“Get your hands off me” placing her own over his, she peeled them away, not wanting to have any contact with him; it would only make things so much harder.

“Sarah please, you don't understand... I love you.” David insisted, hurt that she had pushed him away.

“Bullshit!” She spat, taking a step away “You're the one that doesn't understand David. I love you, I mean I really, really love you. Sometimes so much that it hurts just to be away from you, even if it's only a minute. But you, well... you go a whole month avoiding me, making me go crazy thinking I'd done something wrong, or that you'd gone back to her, but no, as it turns out it's just because I'm worthless.”

“Sarah no...” He interrupted, how could she for one second think that she wasn't his entire world?

“Shut up.” She spat. “I don't want to hear it, I don't ever want to hear another excuse, I'm done, I'm over being hurt just because you can't make up your mind. Whatever we had, was clearly physical, and even though it was amazing, it's not worth the pain. I'm not your mistress David, and for that matter, I'm no longer a friend either.” She finished before turning and pulling the front door back as far as it would go, gesturing for him to leave.

“You don't mean that.” David said, it came out as a plea, as though he were begging her to take it back

“No I do, you don't know me anymore, and maybe you never did.” She said with a shrug of her shoulders.

“That’s bullshit! I know you better than I know myself.” He insisted, and it was the truth, he knew every little thing about her.

“Really? Then tell me something David, since you know I hate being hurt, why do you insist on inflicting the pain yourself?” She said, wishing he would just go, walk out the door and never look back. At least then she would be able to get on with her life.

He had nothing; he knew she was right; he seemed to hurt her time and time again, because he couldn't get his own life sorted. So he just stood there, unable to move, if he left it would mean that he was leaving her, and he wasn't ready to that, in fact he never would be. “I'm sorry.” was all that seemed to come out of his mouth.

“Please…” She whispered as tears began to well within her eyes “Just go.” She begged.

Knowing there was nothing he could do; David obeyed her wishes, and walked out of her home.

Closing the door behind him, Sarah fell back against it, the salty tears finding their escape and falling down her cheeks. It hurt so much just thinking that that was it, and that what they had was done with. But deep down she knew it was for the best. And as she slid down to the floor, crying over her heartache it was as though a part of her knew that everything would be alright.

Something Sarah didn't really recognize was that that part of her was in fact her heart, the same one that was calling out to David's wishing him back.

**********

When the door closed and he could no longer see her, silent tears streamed down his face. There was no way at all that he was willing to accept it, it wasn't over, never would be. He loved her, and regardless of what she had just said he knew her better than anyone else. All that David needed now was a way to show her.

“I'll get you back baby.” He whispered, before walking away and getting into his car.
